Camping and horses
Hi my name is Kelly Allen.
I thought I would start blogging about our camping trips with our horses. In 2003 I had never even heard about taking your horses out of the show pen and taking them camping with you. I met my now husband Ron Stolp in 2003 he was a horsemen but unlike me had spent most of his riding out on the open range trail riding and doing overnight trips with his horse. I had spent nearly all of my past doing only the odd trail ride but mostly had been in the show ring. As far as camping I had done some with my parents but it wasn't really camping , big 5 wheel with a slide-out, hot & cold running water, a warm bed, shower, kitchen, bedroom etc. Camping with horses was a little different. Our first trip out we did not have a big warm 5th wheel or even camper we had a tent and a bumper pull trailer. It was fun but I have never been one for doing the tenting thing so being a little spoiled if we where going to continue doing this I needed to be a little more comfortable so we sold our bumper pulled trailers and bought a fancy new gooseneck trailer. Ron custom designed the front so we had a small Living-quarters area. This was more like it!! Camping with our horses has changed our lives. We have met some of our best friends out on the trail. We have done many trips around BC and even south of the boarder in Arizona. In 2007 and 2008 we traveled to Arizona to camp with our horses and ride the foot steps of old cowboys from our past like Doc Holiday and Wyatt Earp.
With this blog I plan on posting our next big adventure. The end of 2011 we are planning on heading south yet again to Arizona. Keep posted for some of our great trail rides.
In 2007 I also started the web site http://www.campingandhorses.com this website is to help people like ourselves find great places to go with there horses all over North America.
