Red Canyon Trail head Utah

Red Canyon Utah

After leaving Arizona that we love so much we headed north to Utah and headed towards Bryce Canyon. On the way to Bryce we saw these unbelievable rock formations in Red Canyon. We found the trail head to Red Canyon just down past the info centre before the two Red rock tunnels on Hwy 12. We decided to camp there for the night and ride the Butch Cassidy trail in the morning. This trail head is set up more to trailer into not really a camping area but up the street off Hwy 12 on Forest Road 113 there is an Equestrian campground "Coyote Hollow Equestrian Camping".

What a beautiful morning
It was cold over night but the sun was out so we saddle up the horses and headed to the trail head

There are maps and info over by the pit toilet about the trail system. There are also many hitching rails for you horses.

Heading out on the Butch Cassidy Trail

Lots of rock formations

Got up to the view point looking over Red Canyon

Pretty nice view between your horses ears

We headed out about 2 1/2 hours on the Butch Cassidy trail then took the Rich trail home

This was on the Rich Trail head

Leaving Arizona going into Utah

We left Arizona on April 2nd and headed towards Utah. It was hard leaving the beautiful rocks of Sedona and the state we love so much "Arizona". It has been a great year of riding down here this year. Make sure you look back on all my Arizona blogs to see where you too can ride and camp with your horses. As we head north on our way home we plan on stopping at as many great trails heads as possible. Bryce Canyon has always been on my bucket list.

Leaving Horse Mesa Ranch in Sedona

Look at this cool walking bridge. On our way out on Route 66

We drove through the Grand Canyon and crossed the Colorado river as headed down Hwy 89A towards Utah.

We came across this really interesting sight they were call Rock people as all there homes were made of different rock formations

Horse Mesa Ranch in Sedona

On the road again heading to the other side of the Verde Valley to a place called Horse Mesa Ranch

Horse Mesa Ranch is located just east of the main part of Sedona in a Village called Oak Creek in Sedona
Entering Road to Horse Mesa Ranch

Hunter and Cimaron room with a view.

They have a big riding ring, round pen all with a view of the Red Rocks of Sedona

Riding out of Ranch

There are easy to find bridle paths

You do have to know your way through the trails in the highend subdivision that get you into the red rocks.

This home was just huge right at the base of the red rocks ,one of the trails pass by it.

It is magical once you get up into the red rocks

One the trail to Bell Rock. The view through your horses ears doesn't get much better then this.

Ron rides up for a picture moment (above) while a young child named Alex meets Hunter our stallion (below).

Hunter just loves small children this is just so cute. We gave Alex a little ride on Hunter too.

Every corner you go around you see another million dollar view

Bell Rock you can view from where we are staying it over looks the whole village.

Our second day of riding we headed out on a different trail through the subdivision. The trail goes under a cute red rock bridge.

You only have to ride the side a little ways and you are into the red rocks
